The 4th Annual National Urban Health Conference conference will feature major presentations on Building Healthy Communities, Diabetes, Adolescent & Family Health, Financial and Spiritual Health. Plus, there will be a special public open house at the Emblem Health Neighborhood Care Center on 125th Street. Roger Hayes, Assistant Commissioner, East & Central Harlem District Public Health Office will deliver the keynote address at the Opening Session.
Other public events during the weekend conference include the Friday, April 25 Opening Session and panel discussions at the New York Academy of Medicine and the Emblem Health Neighborhood Care Center Open House; On Saturday, April 26, Get Connected: The Uptown Youth Conference co-presented with the New York City Mission Society at Minisink Townhouse in Harlem and the 7th Annual Harlem Celebration of World Tai Chi & Qigong Day in St. Nicholas Park, and Sunday, April 27 Spiritual Health is the focus at houses of worship in Harlem, Brooklyn and the Bronx, plus a special commemoration of the 192nd Anniversary of President Ulysses S. Grant’s birth held at the U. S. Grant National Memorial Park featuring NY1 News anchor Cheryl Wills, author of “Die Free: A Heroic Family Tale,” which pays homage to the storied treasure of her great-great-great grandfather Sandy Wills, a member of the United States Colored Troops from 1863–1865.
The National Urban Health Conference is a signature event of The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce’s Healthy Eating - Healthy Living Initiative created to help Harlem residents and people in communities across the nation to live healthier and more productive lives.
