ABOUT

The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce will explore issues concerning healthcare in urban communities encompassing Obamacare, prescription drugs, women’s health decisions, healthcare insurance and even stress reduction with Tai Chi & QiGong at the 5th Annual National Urban Health Conference.

The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, over the past decades, has embarked on selected campaigns intended to enhance and improve the business and quality of life in its service areas, so as to increase its economic viability and assist in its continued and timely growth and development.

Without question, one of the most important challenges facing America, especially in its urban areas, is the status of our health. With that in mind, the Health Committee of The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce has, for the past seven years focused on that which can and should be done to improve the quality of health in our communities. “Healthy Eating & Healthy Living” is the theme our Chamber adopted seven years ago to highlight and to improve the quality of life for our members, employees, their families, customers and clients.

The 5th Annual National Urban Health Conference reflects the commitment of a dedicated group of partners representing health service providers, hospitals, medical professionals, educational and religious institutions, elected officials, public officials, financial institutions, corporations, civic and community based organizations, and local businesses committed to the health and well-being of our communities. This year the theme of our 5th Annual National Conference is “Our Health Is Our Wealth.”

Over a four-day period from Thursday, April 23 through Sunday, April 26, 2015, professional experts from the fields of medicine, education, finance, religion and social services, as well as representatives from civic organizations, will lead conference sessions on the vital role that we must play in the decision making that shapes our health agenda. Community related health issues such as The Affordable Health Care Act, Healthy Eating, Enviornmentatl Issues, Financial Health, Senior Citizen & Family Health, Exercise and Spiritual Health are highlighted. We are honored to feature and present national and international distinguished panelists and keynote speakers at this renowned four day conference.

The 5th Annual National Urban Health Conference will officially kick-off the 2015 initiatives of the Chamber’s Health Committee to bring focus and attention to the critical need for “Healthy Eating & Healthy Living.” Throughout the year we will promote exercising, healthy eating, regular health testing, and more timely utilization of our many regional health service facilities and organizations - private and public.

The conference will also concentrate on the importance of financial health and the need for quality family health insurance coverage and for more professional service providers.

The National Urban Health Conference is a signature event of The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce’s Healthy Eating - Healthy Living Initiative created to help Harlem residents and people in communities across the nation to live healthier and more productive lives.
