MUSEUM FACILITY

The National Black Sports & Entertainment Hall of Fame (NBS&E Hall of Fame) will have its very own museum facility with an educational, historical, and informational purpose and become a major New York tourist destination. The site selection committee consists of chairman Edward Myers, Esq., Chairman, Myers, Smith, Granady Real Estate, the Office of the Manhattan Borough President, the Office of the Congressman Charles B. Rangel, New York City Economic Development Corporation, and the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone.

HISTORIC WALK-OF-FAME

Each Spring beginning in 2002, all of the National Black Sports & Entertainment Hall of Fame (NBS&E Hall of Fame) and Museum inductees of the previous year will be permanently placed in a Harlem Walk-of-Fame, which will be located on West 135th Street (Between 5th and St. Nicholas Avenues), due to the historical and cultural importance of this particular street. West 135th Street is home to the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, Harlem YMCA, Hansborough Recreation Center, Jackie Robinson Youth Center, James Weldon Houses, Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Houses, Lieutenant Joseph Kennedy Center, Harlem Hospital, and Lenox Terrace, to name a few. The Walk-of Fame initiative will be done in concert with the offices of the Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields; Hon. Congressman Charles B. Rangel; State Senator David A. Paterson; Assemblyman Keith L.T. Wright; Councilman Bill Perkins; NYC & Company; the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce; Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone; Central Harlem Local Development Corporation; and Community Board 10.
